Robert Spencer’s last visit to Toronto in 2013, also hosted by the JDL, was a huge success despite attempts by Muslim groups to have it cancelled.

Spencer called his Toronto speech on of the best he’d ever given and was appreciative of the audience’s enthusiasm and support.

Robert Spencer’s 2013 speech in Toronto:

Shalom Toronto reports: JDL Canada gaining support

The weekly community newspaper Shalom Toronto has published a wonderful profile of JDL Canada president Meir Weinstein, who talks about how the group has evolved over the years:

Here’s an excerpt:

A strapping six footer, with dark unruly hair that is just starting to gray, Meir looks far younger than 57. When I ask if he was ever threatened or beat up, he shrugs my question off with “I’m an obstacle for a lot of these guys. My mission is to shut down organizations that pose a threat to the Jewish people and to Israel and nobody is going to stop me. I realized a long time ago, this is my life -this is what I have to do”

When Iran inspired, anti-Zionist, Al Quds Day was held at Queens Park, JDL and its supporters were there. They faced off recently against a group promoting Free Palestinian Prisoners Day in front of the Israeli Consulate. When the Jaffari Centre made moves to establish a Muslim enclave in Thornhill Woods, they fired off protest letters to Vaughan City Hall. Speakers like the controversial Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are drawing sell-out crowds.

JDL and The Toronto Zionist Council is bringing in the outspoken MK, Moshe Feiglin, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Tuesday May 6 at Chabd Lubavitch Synagogue, 770 Chabad Gate in Thornhill. Feiglin has called for the firing of the Internal Security Minister after Jewish children were harassed and abused by Arabs on the Temple Mount.

News about Israel Apartheid Week, Robert Spencer’s visit to Toronto and more

You’ve heard this story before:

A man walks into his doctor’s office after his annual physical exam and the doctor says, “Harold I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?”

Harold says, “Give me the bad news first.”

So that’s what we’ll do in this update. Remember, there really is some good news — just keep reading!

The Jewish Defence League is alerting our community to some very disturbing anti-Jewish, anti-Israel developments. Once again, the debunked “Israel Apartheid Week” fiasco is preparing to rear it’s ugly head again on Canadian university campuses -– and around the world.

The promoters of the event seem to think that they gain credibility by inviting speakers who are convicted terrorists and other organizations that promote the use of unsavoury “lawfare” in attempts to silence being exposed; organizations that have raised funds for groups listed by Israel as Hamas front groups.

Please review our vital information and then mark your calendar for some positive actions in which you can participate in order to counter the anti-Jewish / anti -Israel incitement.

Muslim group wants rabbi tossed from PM Harper’s Israel trip — because he introduced Geller, Spencer at JDL event

SunNews has the shocking story:

A Canadian Muslim group wants Harper’s officials to boot a Toronto rabbi out of the official delegation that will travel with the PM.

In a letter sent to Harper on Tuesday, the National Council of Canadian Muslims said it objected to the presence of Toronto Rabbi Daniel Korobkin as part of Harper’s official delegation.

Korobkin is the senior rabbi at Beth Avraham Yosef Congregation, the largest Orthodox congregation in Canada, and is regional vice-president of the Rabbinical Council of America.

Korobkin should be disqualified from going, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) said, because, in September, Korobkin “introduced, defended and praised” two American anti-Muslim [sic] campaigners. Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are founders of a group called Stop Islamization of America. Korobkin gave some brief remarks at an event in Toronto that Geller spoke at.

“Mr. Korobkin has chosen to align himself with some of the most recognized and vitriolic anti-Muslim activists of our time,” Ottawa-based NCCM executive director Ihsaan Gardee said in his organization’s letter to Harper dated Jan. 14. “The highest political office in our nation should not lend its legitimacy to such parties and views that are entirely contrary to our shared values of mutual understanding, acceptance and respect.”

On her blog, Geller fired back.

“If only these Muslim groups used their coercive intimidation to shut down hate imams who preach jihad and incitement to violence. No, but they attack those of us who do,” Geller wrote.

Geller, Spencer event successful despite Muslim group’s efforts

From the Jewish Tribune:

Rabbi Daniel Korobkin, spiritual leader of Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto (BAYT) Congregation in Thornhill, introduced Geller and Spencer at the event, held by the Jewish Defence League (JDL) of Canada. He said the NCCM should thank Geller instead of condemning her.

“If only the [members of NCCM] would stop their efforts at suppressing the truth about radical Islam, if only they would stop attacking people who are merely speaking the truth, we’d be able to accomplish so much more by working together,” said Rabbi Korobkin.

Robert Spencer calls his Toronto speech one of his best ever (video)

JDL Canada is proud to have hosted this extraordinary event.

Robert Spencer writes:

It was a triumphant evening. In this talk, I address the common smear that my work amounts to “hate speech,” and discuss the motives and goals of the “hate speech” campaigners, the “hate speech” in the Qur’an, and more. I have given hundreds of talks all over the world, but this was one where it all came together.

Robert Spencer warns against ‘creeping sharia’

Canadian Jewish News interviews Robert Spencer in advance of his appearance in Toronto with Pamela Geller on September 17:

Spencer said when human rights commissions in British Columbia and Alberta agreed to hear complaints by Muslim groups against journalists Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant, the “commissions were, wittingly or unwittingly, pursuing an agenda of placing criticism of Islam beyond the pale of acceptable discourse.”

Asked whether he agreed with U.S. Mideast analyst Daniel Pipes’ formulation that “radical Islam is the problem and moderate Islam is the solution,” Spencer replied: “If moderate Islam existed, it would be the solution.

“Right now, while there are many moderate Muslims, there is no mainstream sect or school of Islamic law that teaches that non-Muslims and Muslims should live together peacefully as legal equals in a secular society, or that women should have equal rights with men, or that apostates from Islam have a right to live. Until such a mainstream sect or school emerges, moderate Islam cannot be the solution because it does not exist.”
